Credits are the currency that powers every extension you build on Extensy. Each time you generate an extension, one credit is consumed. This page explains exactly when credits are deducted, when they’re returned, and how to get the most out of your monthly allowance.

What counts as one credit

One credit equals one complete AI generation — from your plain-English prompt to a downloadable ZIP file.
  • Creating a new extension costs 1 credit.
  • Refining or iterating on an existing extension also costs 1 credit per generation.
  • Credits are only deducted when a valid ZIP is successfully produced.
If a generation fails due to a server error on Extensy’s side, your credit is automatically returned to your balance. You are never charged for a failed generation.

Checking your balance

Your current credit balance is always visible in the top-right corner of the Extensy dashboard. Hover over the count to see the exact date your credits will next refresh.

How credits refresh

Credits are granted at the start of each billing cycle — the same day your subscription renews each month. They do not accumulate: any unused credits expire when your cycle resets.
Once a ZIP is successfully generated, the credit is spent. Extensy cannot reverse a completed generation or refund credits for outputs that didn’t meet your expectations. Use the Prompting Guide to write effective prompts before generating.

Credit consumption rules

Yes. Every time you click Generate — whether for a new extension or a refinement prompt on an existing one — one credit is consumed.
If the Extensy service encounters a technical error and no ZIP is produced, your credit is immediately and automatically returned to your balance. You will not be charged for server-side failures.
No. Monthly credits are tied to your billing cycle. Unused credits expire at the end of each period and reset at the start of the next one.
Credits are non-refundable once a generation completes successfully. Because AI generation is computationally expensive, we cannot issue refunds for prompts that produced a ZIP you didn’t find useful. Iterating on a prompt is the recommended path.

Getting the most from each credit

Before you click Generate, confirm the following:
  1. Your prompt is specific. Does it mention the target website, the exact behavior you want, and any visual preferences?
  2. You’ve checked the Prompting Guide. Are there templates or examples that match your use case?
  3. Your request is extension-compatible. Are you asking for something the Chrome extension sandbox actually supports?
Start with a simpler version of your idea and iterate. A focused first generation followed by a targeted refinement often produces better results than a single complex prompt — and gives you more control over each step.
